Caring for You honours Australia’s leading nursing professionals at our 2022 Core Values Awards

We were delighted to hold our 2022 Caring for You Core Values Awards on Friday 1 July. These awards recognise the exceptional care, warmth and compassion displayed by our staff and nursing community over the past 12 months.

The event took place at the Melbourne Crown River Room and was attended by the Caring for You Board and staff members, carers and the family and friends of the 2022 finalists who gathered to celebrate the people who lead Australia’s healthcare industry.

Caring for You’s late founder, Louise ‘Louy’ Thomson, began the agency with the aspiration of providing a vital service that was always from a nurse’s perspective, driven by a desire to supply well-trained professional nurses to the healthcare industry who would be appreciated by employers with strong values.

Before her passing last year, Louy established the core values that embody the humility and care of the Caring for You family in everything we do. The Core Value Awards were created by CEOs Grace and Belle Thomson to honour the legacy of their mother, Louy, and the values she instilled into the organisation.

Two awards were dedicated to each value to recognise and celebrate a nurse and a Caring for You staff member who has demonstrated excellence, growth, caring, support, fun and positivity and a can-do attitude over the past year. The winners of these six categories were presented with a beautiful glass trophy and a $500 cash prize.

The awards included The Tony Miller Award, which is dedicated to Louy’s late father and provides a learning fund to help the winner focus on continual learning in the nursing sector.

The final award of the night – The Louy Award ­– honours the character and drive of Louise Thomson. Daughters Grace and Belle presented one of their valued nurses with a new car and one of their valued staff members with a $5000 cash prize.

CEOs Grace and Belle Thomson were humbled and proud of the volume and calibre of the nominations.

CEO Grace said: “It is an honour to celebrate the exceptional care and compassion of those working in the healthcare industry. Our mother was the heartbeat of Caring for You and would have been proud of this event, which was created to honour her memory and all she stood for. We congratulate all the winners and finalists and thank all our nominees, nominators, members and employees for making this night a memorable celebration of the incredible dedication within our industry.”
