Caring for You, awarded multiple Stevie's at International Business Awards!
Written on the 30 September 2021
Louise Thomson, the late CEO of Australia’s leading nursing agency Caring for You, has been posthumously honoured with the prestigious international Gold Stevie Award for her lifetime achievement.
From humble beginnings in 2004 with just two nurses on the books, Louise grew the highly regarded agency into Australia’s largest nurse-owned recruitment agency.
That work has been recognised as part of the 18th Annual International Business Awards. Caring For You was also awarded a Silver Stevie for Most Exemplary Employer.
"Still today we have people approach us telling us what an inspiration mum was to them," Co-CEO and Louise’s daughter Belle Thomson said.
"She was a brilliant businesswoman, leader and advocate for the healthcare industry, strengthened by her vivacious personality. She met everyone with a warmth that made them feel not just appreciated but understood.
"We believe these awards reflect this, and we're delighted to accept these awards in her memory."
The talented nurse and businesswoman, who passed away suddenly earlier this year, was recorded as the first Registered Nurse and Midwife in the country.
Louise started the Caring for You agency on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, driven by a desire to supply well-trained professional nurses to the healthcare industry who would be appreciated by employers with strong values. Today it employs more than 5,000 nurses and carers across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.
Following her passing, her two daughters Grace and Belle (both registered nurses), who have actively been involved in the business over the last decade, have stepped up to carry on her company's legacy as joint CEOs.
The Stevie’s (meaning ‘crowned’ in Greek) form part of the Annual International Business Awards and are granted by a curated selection of 260 business experts from across the world. This year, the awards attracted more than 3,700 nominations.
The judges for the awards said of Louise, “they say that the legacy you leave speaks volumes about who you were as a person. This legacy shows that by valuing nurses you create an environment of exceptional care. Congratulations Louise for all that you achieved during your lifetime”.
Another judge remarked, “Caring for You has developed one of the most detailed COVID response protocols supported by many documents which define all responsibilities step by step. It will not be wrong to argue that they have done a great job as part of crisis management.”
Since March 2020, Caring for You has been on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic response in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, supplying high quality agency nurses and carers to hospitals, aged care facilities and home care environments.
Speaking on the uniqueness of the agency, Co-CEO Grace said, “nurses and carers often choose Caring for You for its positive workplace culture and commitment to excellence, and it’s wonderful to now see this recognised internationally.”
“COVID has been a very uncertain time for the industry, but through the agency’s tireless efforts to keep nurses working, we were able to place nurses in more than 400 shifts each day, and we now employ 4,500 healthcare professionals,” Grace said.
With the award recipients named, the industry is now ready to herald the winners during a virtual ceremony to be held on December 8.
